  1. Highlight the text/object you want to copy: If it’s a word double click on it, it it’s a sentence or a paragraph double click and drag your curser to the end of the section, or click at the top of a section, press shift, and then click at the bottom of the section.

         2. Copy the selection by pressing Command + C, or Cut with Command + X. Both save the                        selected text/object to the pasteboard, but Copy leaves it in place while Cut removes it.

How to paste on a Mac or MacBook

  1. As above, you need to first select the text or object you want to copy or cut by pressing Command + C to copy, or Command + X to cut.
  2. Put the cursor where you want to place the text/object, and Paste by pressing Command + V.

As a new Macbook user, you must be trying Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V to copy and paste on your Macbook, but it would not work here as it is the shortcut key working in the Windows PC.   1. Go to the Apple Menu
  2. Open “System Preferences
  3. Click on “Keyboard
  4. Select “Shortcuts
  5. Select “App Shortcuts
  6. Click the “Add” button (the one with the + sign)
  7. Select the app or apps for which you want your preferred keyboard shortcuts to be used.
    👉 If you can’t find your favorite application on the list, click “Other” then use the “Open” dialog box to search for it.
    👉 If you want your preferred shortcut for copy and paste to apply to all applications, just click on “All Applications.”
  8. In the “Menu Title,” type in the command for which you want your shortcut to work (for example, type “Copy” if you want to assign a keyboard shortcut for copying and “Paste” if you want a keyboard shortcut for pasting things). Please make sure that you write the menu title exactly the same way the command is written on your favorite application’s menu (including capitalization and spaces).
  9. Next, go to the “Keyboard Shortcut” field, then press the key combination that you want to use for the keyboard shortcut while you’re in the empty box beside it.
  10. Click on “Add

How to Copy Paste on a Macbook Using an Apple Magic Mouse

As Windows user, you must have used a mouse with two buttons i.e. “Right Click” and “Left Click”. But in mice that come with the Macbook have only one button on it. So how can you Copy and Paste a text using Mice?

Using Trackpad to Copy and Paste on Macbook

👉 If you are a windows user and have a laptop then you know that by selecting the text that you want to copy and click on your lower right part of the Trackpad, you get the option for Copy and Paste. But in the case of Macbook, there is no such buttons on the Trackpad.

👉 So while using a Macbook, Select the text that you need to copy and then by using two Fingers try to click on the middle of the Trackpad to bring up the Contextual Menu (the popup menu that appears when you initiate a “Control + mouse click), then selecting “Paste” from there.
